Kalalu an upscale Haitian restaurant located at St. Denis, just North of Duluth in Montreal, Qu├ębec. It features Haitian Artibonite style dishes at great prices. The staff are incredibly passionate about their restaurant and it is always worth taking a trip out to taste the cultural and extremely flavourful meals.  Kalalu is proud to offer a special menu showcasing a choice of three house favorites: Artibonite (pan roasted chicken leg marinated in Haitian Artibonite spices, minced smoked herring and Creole cigars), Griot (marinated fried pork, minced smoked herring and cod fishcakes) and Sancoche (vegetable ratatouille, minced smoked herring and cod fishcakes). All dishes are served with traditional rice and peas, banana plantains and pikliz sauce. One alcoholic beverage and a dessert are included. Show and dinner menus are comfortably priced at $35 and guests may attend the show only for $15.

Tap Tap Haitian Restaurant on South Beach doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it is a whole different  World once you step inside. Colorful Haitian art and decor and live music help set the scene for a fun meal at Tap Tap. The real treat is the food though, made up of traditional Haitian delicacies, like shrimp in Creole or coconut sauce. A warm and helpful staff helps makes it a relaxed dining experience. Tucked away in Miami’s Design District is a spicy taste of home for anyone yearning for Creole food, served up Haitian style. Joumou Cafe offers a relaxed atmosphere and a big dose of hospitality, while serving up Haitian favorites such as Cabrit – tender chunks of goat meat with sweet bell peppers in a tomato sauce – and their signature Joumou soup – beef, noodles and carrots in a savory pumpkin broth. You can wash it all down with a Prestige Beer, straight from Haiti. Open for the past 25 years in Miami, Chez Le Bebe in Miami’s Little Haiti district brings an authentic taste of the islands if you are on the prowl for Cajun and Creole food. Chez Le Bebe boasts a homey and relaxed atmosphere, while serving up favorites like stewed oxtail, seafood, vegetable dishes and more, in an exciting combination of spices and sauces. Haitian chef Regina Milfort and her husband, Raymond, opened Mangoe's Caribbean Bistro in 2007. Since then, it has attracted a loyal following to its unassuming location in South Miami-Dade.

Regina dresses her grilled chicken and pork chops with a homemade honey mango and scotch bonnet A favorite of regulars is the fried whole snapper, which she brines before frying for extra flavor and tenderness. Goat and ox tail are on the menu as well. On Sundays only, come for the savory beef, chicken and cod fish pastries. The decor is colorful with bright yellow walls and lots of primitive art as well as a faux tin roof covering the food service area.

Chef Creole

The chef at Chef Creole, Ken Sejour, is something of a genius at self-promotion. He nevertheless deserves his fame, which comes from producing seafood and other specialties to take out or eat in at his three Miami locations. It helps, too, when a restaurant catches the attention of the Travel Channel's Anthony Bourdain, who has high praise for Chef Creole.

If you're looking for a place to impress the boss, this may not be it. Chef Creole's restaurants are so casual that you may be served your crab creole in a plastic dish. The most formal of the three locations is the one at 20356 NW Second Ave., where there is indoor seating for 60 to 70 guests.

One specialty of the house is conch. You can have it fried, steamed, stewed, frittered or plain as a garnish for salad. Standard sides are beans and rice as well as tender sweet plantains. For those not tempted by conch, shrimp, lobster, crab or fish that swim with fins, there is also fried pork, ribs and stewed chicken.
